St. Leon Wind Energy Project
 The St. Leon wind farm is in the rural municipalities of Lorne and Pembina, near the towns of St. Leon, Altamont, Somerset and Manitou, Manitoba.
The 99 MW St. Leon Wind Project occupies over 18,000 acres of land and is approximately three kilometers from a Manitoba Hydro transmission line and substation.
The wind farm is situated on the Pembina Escarpment, which rises above the surrounding plains, exposing the turbines to the constant prairie winds. Combined, the 63 turbines produce enough electricity to meet the needs of 41,000 homes, which is about the requirements of the city of Brandon.

The St. Leon Wind Project displaces the production of 370,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year from a fossil plant. Another way to put it is that the production of wind energy from St. Leon has the same environmental impact as taking 70,000 cars off the road or planting 1.7 million trees.
